|Mayor Mark Hall|
Summer is almost over and it was jam packed with great events. I hope you all had a chance to enjoy them. From First Fridays, Movies in the Park, July Fireworks, Market Days and Jazz in the Park, this summer was both entertaining and fun.
As we transition to the fall and the start of a new school year, I would like to thank you for your attention to safety as you drive to and from our schools. Your patience during these heavy traffic times is appreciated and insures everyone has a safe trip to and from school. I am happy to announce the extended turn lanes will be completed at Helena Intermediate on Helena Parkway (52W) in the very near future. This small project will make room for additional cars and buses to get off the main road while turning into HIS, which will help move traffic as quickly as possible at that location. We are also awaiting engineering and traffic studies to be completed regarding a similar improvement at the elementary school. This project will be a bit more complex, but I am optimistic about the outcome.
I am excited to see another year of football kick off in our community as our Helena High Huskies make the transition to 6A competition this season. The Helena vs. Pelham rivalry will officially start this season, and we look forward to the great sportsmanship and entertainment this game brings between our beloved schools. I also look forward to seeing the City Youth League Football and other fall sports programs get under way. It’s a great time of year.
I am very pleased with the direction our city is going and would like to thank you all for the show of confidence and support given to me as I enter my second term in office as your Mayor. I will continue to serve you to the best of my ability and pledge my continued cooperation with the City Council to make good things happen for our community. I am very proud of the many improvements we have made and the fiscal responsibility shown during the last four years as we added over $1 million dollars to our reserve funds that were nonexistent when I took office four years ago. We will continue to use your tax dollars wisely with accountability and transparency. Thank you again for your confidence and support.
I hope you all have a great fall! I look forward to seeing you around town and at Husky football games!
Please remember to shop Helena first!
Mark R. Hall, Mayor
